Thomson Dam

Situated only a short drive from Rawson, the Thomson Reservoir is the largest of Melbourne’s reservoirs. It has a capacity of 1,068 billion litres, and makes up about 60% of Melbourne’s total storage capacity. It is one of the longest earthen fill dams in the southern hemisphere, so its well worth the drive to see. Being a domestic water supply it is not available for fishing, boating or other water sports.
